Considered by many as the pinnacle in streamlined design of percussion Colts, the 1862 Police, initially introduced in 1861, was in answer to the clamor for smaller self-defense revolvers. With production running from 1861-1873, around 48,000 Police models were turned out. Small numbers were actually ordered by various police departments of the era and some were purchased during the Civil War by officers for use as a close combat revolver. The .36 caliber, 5-shot Police model is offered in barrel lengths of 4 1/2 inches, 5 1/2 inches and 6 1/2 inches (as shown and offered here), and in your choice of Standard Blue, Charcoal Blue, or Cimarron's Original Finish. It's attractive color case hardened frame, hammer and loading lever, brass back strap and trigger guard, one-piece walnut stocks and the half-fluted cylinder, give this handy revolver a rakish look that is sure to appeal to any black powder enthusiast.
